Truth

Adopted on this site — engagement with what is actually so

Value

Reality is not negotiable; the record of what happened must not be rewritten for comfort, convenience, or commercial pressure.

A1 — adopted on this site T2: This is not a hidden prime value (P1P7 remain unpublished). It is a public theme I commit to here — crystallised in the Genesis series and linked from principles and patterns below.

Truth on this site means what those essays establish from the first article:

T2 Axiom. Facts are immutable.

T2 Corollaries. (1) The past does not change. (2) A system that allows the past to be modified is not modelling reality — it is replacing it with a more convenient fiction. (3) Correction is a new fact that references what came before; it does not un-happen what was recorded.

This value is not cruelty dressed as rigour. H0: Humane Core governs how truth is delivered — to whom, with what care, at what pace — but it does not permit the content of what is known to be revised for convenience. The finding cannot be softened. The record cannot be rewritten. Derivations, scores, and recommendations remain derivations until a named authority commits them at a boundary.

Truth grounds the principles of immutability and commitment. Without it, audit trails become theatre, accountability becomes attribution without substance, and every downstream pattern collapses into mutable state pretending to be ground fact.

Touchstone. Before asking what exists, ask what makes statements true. The reframing is Michael Dummett’s (Truth and Other Enigmas, 1978; The Logical Basis of Metaphysics, 1991) — though Dummett pressed it toward anti-realism, doubting truths we cannot recognise, with statements about the unrecorded past as his sharpest case. This work takes his question and a different answer: truth is real and mind-independent, our grasp of it is fallible and improvable, and the task is not to possess truth but to build systems in which it can be found more often, its uncertainties made smaller, and what can be known with certainty never lost. The deeper treatment is in The Real.
