Maximum mutual information transmissible through a processing step
Channel capacity C is the maximum mutual information that can be transmitted through a channel — a processing step. Claude Shannon showed capacity is determined by noise and bandwidth; deterministic transforms preserve input entropy (η = 1); noisy channels cap what can be preserved.
In Genesis, U-low / U-med / U-high are an informal categorisation of per-step capacity: real-time single-stream deterministic paths ≈ high capacity; uncalibrated models over heterogeneous multi-stream inputs ≈ low capacity. Thresholds are contractual — the same underlying property, different stakes (payment vs monthly audit).
