Task Nature
Whether a correct answer exists, and whether it is feasible to compute
Task nature is the first calibration dimension in When the Commitment Boundary Needs Reinforcing: an epistemological classification — not a complexity score — of whether a deterministic correct answer exists and whether computing it is practical at scale.
Three classes:
Task nature is plotted against outcome severity and frequency in the Decision Framework territory map. False uncertainty is when stakeholders lack access to a knowable (often D-F) answer — not a fourth task-nature class.
Classification is itself an L0 governance act: misclassifying downward to reduce friction is a predictable failure mode.
